Can you make a living on Alamy? ›

Alamy is a premium stock photo site. They are a little higher priced than some of the stock photo sites, but the quality of their photos is well worth it.

We need a file size of over 17MB when uncompressed (this is likely to have a compressed JPEG size of 3-5MB). Opening a JPEG in an image program such as Adobe Photoshop will show you the uncompressed (open) file size. How do I upload my images to Alamy?

The average image license fee on Alamy is $30; we deal with a variety of clients so the prices do vary in different industries and countries. Generally, licenses for editorial uses achieve lower average prices than commercial uses – but our editorial clients tend to license stock images more frequently.

We make payments on the 1st working day of every month and it shouldn't take any longer than 9 working days for you to see it in your account. We can pay you in USD, GBP or EUR via PayPal or funds transfer. You can update how you get paid under the 'Account Settings' section of your Contributor Dashboard.

The bottom line. Alamy has a vast collection of stock images and videos, but the quality is mediocre, and prices are inexplicably high compared to competitors. Additionally, licensing terms and prices are complicated, and the company does not offer license indemnity.
